The Security and International Affairs team at the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) is seeking research interns for the Fall 2014 semester. This is an opportunity for responsible, diligent students--particularly those with a strong interest in international relations--to prove their analytical skills at an internationally-renowned University of Pennsylvania program.
Interns will be tightly involved in producing a professional-quality report on modern trans-national security issues, and will benefit from the TTCSP's superb networking and professional development opportunities. Applicants with native or near-native proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, or Russian are preferred.

Job Description:
Schedules all non-academic use of campus facilities; Inputs, retrieves, and updates event setup information and produces event reports through EMS event management system; Explains policies and procedures for use of Camden Campus facilities; Advises clients and the public on setup options and types of materials needed to achieve desired results; Calculates and provides clients all estimates of potential costs incurred in completing an event; Resolves problems or complaints from clients in accordance with established policies and procedures; assists other events staff to finalizes event requirements including table arrangements and number and nature of support personnel needed, such as ushers, security guards, caterers, and decorators; makes or arranges for last minute adjustments in room or equipment setup at the request of event planner; demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service; able to plan, coordinate and implement the smooth operation for routine, smaller events independent of other staff members; performs other duties as assigned.
This position also coordinates the operational and technical support for non-academic events both on campus and at the Camden County Boathouse as required. It provides direct consultation with event organizers--both internal and external users--regarding technical needs, determining labor needs and costs, and participating in pre-production meetings. Evaluates each event and makes recommendations for improving procedures and effectiveness. Is responsible for working with the Department of Fine Arts staff to approve and book reservations for Gordon Theater and Black Box in the campus reservation system as well as determining and recording all costs and prices associated with events in the theater and those that require technical components (sound, audio, lighting). Responsible for hiring Type 4 and 5 staff for Gordon Theater as well as scheduling and approving hours for theater event staff. Researches, evaluates, and procures vendors as needed. The position meets with key users to develop and implement operational policies, including campus reservation system, hours of operation, required levels of supervision, charge rates and rental and staffing fees.
Job Requirements:
B. A - Bachelor's Degree in related field; proficiency in MS Excel and Word; highly computer literate with ability to master new computer software applications; excellent oral and written communication skills; must work well under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, event-driven environment with shifting priorties and multiple deadlines.
  • Minimum of three years experience in production of professional theatre and music events; professional sound reinforcement and audio sound engineering.

The Fricchione Day Care Center Director

Summary of Duties 

The Fricchione Day Care Center at Marywood University seeks to fill the Director position. The Fricchione Center serves children from two months to six years of age with a belief that children develop best through interactions with other children and adults. The Director of the Fricchione Center will oversee the daily operations of the center while demonstrating exceptional professional conduct and consideration for the educational development, safety and welfare of the children and staff. This individual is responsible for the implementation of mandated state regulations and maintenance of Keystone Star IV and NAEYC accreditation. The ability to oversee staff and the safety and security of the center are essential. The Director will work cooperatively with our NCATE-accredited Education department and other departments on campus, as well as coordinate volunteer, internship and work study student experiences.

Secretary for Student Affairs (Part-Time)

The Secretary for Student Affairs provides front desk reception coverage and general administrative support for the Student Affairs suite, which encompasses the VP for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Associate Dean of Students, and the office of Residence and Commuter Life. The Secretary for Student Affairs reports directly to the Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs. 

This position is 30 hours per week, 12 months per year. The schedule will be four days a week, 7.5 hours each day. 

Essential Functions:
  • Serves as the first point of contact for the Student Affairs suite, provides general information and referrals to office visitors and directs telephone calls to appropriate Student Affairs staff or other University offices.
  • Provides administrative support for the Student Affairs suite by scheduling appointments, maintaining staff calendars, overseeing conference room calendar, and preparing correspondence and other documents as requested.
  • Supports departmental operations by preparing weekly email to students, creating bi-annual department newsletter, and coordinating student panels for University Open Houses, maintaining display of public transportation schedules and managing postings from Arcadia University and off-campus sources.
  • Assists in oversight of student employees and processes student employee time records.
  • Provides support for departmental events by coordinating room reservations, work orders, catering requests and audio/visual equipment requests, and assisting with the event as it occurs.
  • Provides administrative support to Residence and Commuter Life by entering confidential student conduct data into departmental database.
  • Serves as a liaison with other key offices (One-Stop Shop; Registrar's Office; Dining Services, etc.) and shares appropriate information with students and staff.
  • Supports the Administrative Assistant and manages office functions and general duties in his/her absence. Provides supplemental support to the Administrative Assistant with major University and departmental events such as Undergraduate Commencement and New Student Orientation.
