    Tips to help you prepare

    For school seekers

Over the years, we've received a few questions on how to best prepare for a grad fair so, we'd like to share a few recommendations with you:
Standard dress is business casual. We realize that you may be coming straight from work or a prior appointment. Admissions recruiters say they won't remember what you are wearing so, please feel welcome in whatever you are in.
Bring a stack of business cards or address labels if you have them (even home-made) with your email address and areas of interest. They will save you time filling out information request cards and are easier to read, which admissions recruiters really appreciate.
Check the list of grad schools attending the fair in your city to research and prioritize those that interest you most. This way you'll have time to talk with the admissions representatives and make a good impression with well-informed questions.
Leave your resume at home. Later, you'll have more time to fine-tune and tailor your resume to the graduate program should you decide to apply!
Bring a bag to carry materials you collect from the grad schools.
Let us give you the most up-to-date list of grad schools at the fair instead of printing your own copy to bring. Our list will have the grad schools listed in the order that they are arranged in the event space.
Give yourself plenty of time to get to the fair, especially if you are travelling by car. We wouldn't want you to miss our fair because of traffic or parking issues -- it's happened in some cities! Check for details on directions and parking at your city's grad fair page.
Watch a short video on how to get the best out of your Idealist Grad Fair experience!
