The Next Steps AmeriCorps Program recognizes, trains, and supports low-income students by engaging them in service and mentoring. Seventy selected students will pledge to complete 300 hours of service each in one calendar year, and, in exchange for that commitment, will receive leadership training, support from the campus, PHENND and fellow members, and participate in ongoing supervision and reflection activities.

AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,212.44 upon completion of 300 hours. Work-Study students may also use their work-study funds as a regular stipend during the program.

Program Coordinator
Police Athletic League of Philadelphia (PAL)

PAL has been carrying out its mission of "Cops Helping Kids" since 1947. Through PAL, Philadelphia police officers, supported by civilians and volunteers, offer sports and other programs to youth in 18 centers in some of the city's highest crime and lowest income neighborhoods. These centers are safe havens, offering a variety of programs and other events to attract, engage, and develop more than 17,000 Philadelphia youth.

The Program Coordinator position is a full-time position responsible for the planning and implementation of various activities at PAL, including on-going, seasonal, and annual educational, recreational and cultural programs and events. The Program Coordinator supports the successful delivery of programs across PAL centers and works closely with PAL Center Directors and center-based support staff. This position reports to the Director of Programs and Education. 

Requirements:
Bachelors Degree
1-2 Years Experience with out-of-school programs or youth development programs

Outreach Coordinator
Old First Reformed United Church of Christ

The role of the Outreach Coordinator at Old First Reformed Church, located in Old City Philadelphia, is to coordinate the church's outreach ministries. These include: Urban Service Camp experiences for various groups of young people; the Food & Clothing Cupboard that provides breakfast and clothing assistance to 80 people on Saturday mornings throughout the year; and the Homeless Shelter for 30 men that operates from November through April each year. The Outreach Coordinator also serves as a source of guidance to the group of church members who are responsible for planning and assessing the church's outreach programs. The Outreach Coordinator reports to the pastor of the church and coordinates the church's outreach programs with the church administrator.

GED Instructor
Congreso de Latinos Unidos

GED Instructor for the Employment and Workforce Service Division. Congreso's Adult Education department provides GED instruction for out of school youth from ages 17 to 21 and adults in the areas of Education, Employment, and Empowerment. The GED Instructor position is a key component of the educational portion of the program and plays an important role in student success at Congreso. The Instructor will partner with the case management and E3 Center teams to deliver comprehensive GED and College readiness curriculum and projects in a variety of academic and supplemental subjects. In addition to developing and delivering classroom instruction, this position assumes a role in areas such as instruction related data entry, student-internship support, team planning meetings, student case consultations, facilitating new-student orientations, and planning/chaperoning field trips and events.
