Description:
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea seeks an intelligent, self-motivated, articulate Researcher with Capitol Hill background to work with diplomats in the Congressional Section.

The Researcher's primary responsibilities include:
  • Performing short- and long-term research projects, as requested by the members of the Embassy;
  • Writing reports, newsletters, correspondence and additional material as requested;
  • Monitoring news reports, legislation, government documents, statements and briefings;
  • Handling delegations between the US and the ROK;
  • Maintaining ties with Capitol Hill and the academic community; and
  • Other miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Qualification:

Position Summary
The Program Officer will assist the Latin America team in the implementation of projects related to human rights and democracy, with the special emphasis in Cuba programs. The Program Officer will provide programmatic and administrative support, including monitoring and evaluating project implementation, writing programmatic reports, processing payments, reporting on financial transactions, liaising with external partners and helping in fundraising efforts. He/she will also be responsible for other financial and administrative duties.
Some Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track country and regional developments, including news on a daily basis
  • Help identifying potential partners; assist in the project¡¦s strategic planning, providing support in adapting the program to the realities on the ground
  • Liaise with external partners and consultants
  • Write briefing materials, quarterly and other programmatic reports for internal and external audiences
  • Monitor project implementation and maintain tracking records of programmatic progress
  • Assist in fundraising efforts, writing funding proposals
  • Write contracts, letters of agreement, process payments and produces financial reports
  • Translate documents from Spanish to English and vice-versa
  • Assist in administrative and logistical preparation of events
  • Other administrative duties, as assigned

Qualification:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish (verbally and in writing)
  • Excellent editing, writing and research skills
