The Fricchione Day Care Center Director

Summary of Duties 

The Fricchione Day Care Center at Marywood University seeks to fill the Director position. The Fricchione Center serves children from two months to six years of age with a belief that children develop best through interactions with other children and adults. The Director of the Fricchione Center will oversee the daily operations of the center while demonstrating exceptional professional conduct and consideration for the educational development, safety and welfare of the children and staff. This individual is responsible for the implementation of mandated state regulations and maintenance of Keystone Star IV and NAEYC accreditation. The ability to oversee staff and the safety and security of the center are essential. The Director will work cooperatively with our NCATE-accredited Education department and other departments on campus, as well as coordinate volunteer, internship and work study student experiences.

Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervision of staff members, including recruitment, training, and evaluation; compliance with State regulations; oversight of educational components; maintenance of accurate records of staff and children; conduct staff meetings; excellent organizational and leadership skills; make provisions for emergencies; monitor toys, materials, and equipment for safety; and possess skills, attributes and characteristics conducive to, and suitable for, dealing with children, parents, staff, and colleagues across campus.

Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and located in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Requirements
  • Educational: 

    Qualified candidates will possess: a minimum of a Master's Degree in a related field (preference given to candidates holding a degree in Early Childhood Education) with five years of relevant work experience, experience related to the operation of a child care center or similar facility for young children, supervisory experience, knowledge of legal issues related to child care, knowledge of budget/fiscal issues, and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with parents, staff, board members, community, media, as well as campus departments.
