ERT Women’s Protection & Empowerment Coordinator
New York
The IRC is seeking a Women’s Protection & Empowerment Coordinator in New York. Members of the Emergency Response Team are deployed to either support existing country programs in their emergency response, or to initiate a new program in the crisis zone. The overall responsibility of the team is to rapidly and effectively design, develop and manage the IRC’s on-site humanitarian response to meet the immediate needs of the affected population. The ERT is also responsible for supporting the transfer of responsibilities and knowledge to the long-term staff to ensure the continuity of IRC programming and operations. The IRC Women’s Protection & Empowerment (WPE) team of experts ensures that IRC’s programs adhere to the principles of best practice in the prevention of and response to violence against women and girls. The WPE Technical Team supports 17 country programs working in partnership with communities and institutions to promote and protect women and girls’ human rights and to meet the safety, health, psychosocial and justice needs of survivors of sexual and physical violence.
REQUIRES: Candidates will need a University degree and technical accreditation or equivalent and 3+ years of experience developing and managing technical projects including time spent in emergency/ conflict areas. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with agencies, local governments and community leaders and develop multi-stakeholder support for humanitarian priorities and advocacy initiatives. Demonstrated ability to identify, recommend and adopt new or changes in technical standards and best practice approaches to ensure rapid, consistent, high quality emergency response strategies and programs.

Deputy Director, Women’s Protection & Empowerment Technical Unit
New York
The IRC is seeking a Deputy Director, Women’s Protection & Empowerment Technical Unit in New York. The Women’s Protection & Empowerment Unit is comprised of 20 team members supporting programming, resource development, research and learning and policy and advocacy for over 20 countries. The WPE’s Technical Unit’s mission is to support programs that facilitate the healing, dignity and self-determination of women and girls who have experienced violence; to create opportunities for women and girls to transform their lives and to make their voices heard in pursuit of a safer, more equitable world; to work in partnership with communities and institutions to promote and protect women’s and girl’s rights and to empower them to enjoy those rights.
The Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from quality assurance (high-quality country level programming with a cross-disciplinary focus, overseeing specific research components related to programming), to extending the reach of IRC programming (business development) to administration (information technology, and reporting,), to human resources (supervision, mentoring, career progression). Externally, the Deputy Director will establish or continue relationships with key UN entities and sister organizations. The Deputy Director will partner closely with the Senior Director to ensure programming is done in a way that incorporates the intersections of health, economic empowerment, justice, and child protection. The Deputy Director will have a key role in helping to chart future growth and strategic responses to an ever-increasing demand for the IRC’s services in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls in humanitarian settings.

Program Officer
New York
The IRC is seeking a Program Officer who plays a vital role within the regional team that supervises an expanding portfolio of humanitarian relief, post-crisis recovery, and refugee resettlement programs currently in seven countries and territories: Afghanistan Myanmar, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, the Russian North Caucasus, and Thailand. The Program Officer should be capable of managing multiple and complex tasks; thrive under pressure; have strong people skills; and be capable of interfacing successfully with internal actors, donors and partners to resolve program issues. S/he should also feel comfortable in a representational role, speaking on humanitarian and recovery issues to policy makers, donors and other audiences. Additionally, the Program Officer may take on internal representative tasks for the Regional Director within the New York HQ.
REQUIRES: Candidates will require a Bachelor’s degree and, ideally, a Master’s degree in a related field or at least two years comparable related experience. At least three years’ work experience with a relief and development NGO and International field experience highly desirable. Program and/or grants management experience with key donors, such as State Department/PRM and USAID/OFDA; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
