Drueding Center, a transitonal home for young women and their children, is seeking a social media intern to use Facebook & Twitter, research & blog articles, etc to share what we do. This is an unpaid internship.
Time Committment: 5-10 hours per week
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
- Understanding of social media platforms
- Excellant written and oral communication skills
We connect local high schoolers with college student mentors, who help them develop the “social know-how” skills necessary to succeed in the college application process, and ultimately, college itself. We believe in empowering students to take ownership of their post-secondary journeys.
MMP is looking for interns to assist in production or post-production for a series of documentary shorts profiling local community leaders, to be released in the fall of 2015. Interns will work with a team of MMP producers as well as local labor, student and community groups, and will gain experience filming and editing a social justice documentary.
We are looking for interns with video production experience who want to work collaboratively and use their skills in the service of social change. We are a small organization and interns will have many opportunities to learn new skills. Qualified applicants must have experience or interest in community organizing, and at least 1 year of experience editing in Final Cut Pro and operating professional or prosumer digital cameras.
Internship Responsibilities
- Assist in documentary field shoots
- Transcribe interviews and review footage for editors
- Provide responsive coverage for developing stories related to local community organizing
- Edit short documentary style video stories on a 2-3 week turnaround basis
- Conduct field shoots to build MMP file footage collection
- Assist with media archiving and equipment maintenance
- Provide logistical support for MMP events and trainings as needed
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Final Cut Pro X
- Experience editing video in documentary, news or narrative formats
- Proficiency as a camera operator, including experience in field documentation
- An interest in grassroots and community organizing, particularly with a focus on poor and working people's movements.
Hours and Compensation
This is an unpaid position, however interns can receive academic credit or work-study payment as appropriate. Schedule and start dates are flexible, but interns must be available either Wednesdays or Fridays and commit a minimum of 8 hours per week between for three months between May and September.
