Secretary for Student Affairs (Part-Time)
The Secretary for Student Affairs provides front desk reception coverage and general administrative support for the Student Affairs suite, which encompasses the VP for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Associate Dean of Students, and the office of Residence and Commuter Life. The Secretary for Student Affairs reports directly to the Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs.
This position is 30 hours per week, 12 months per year. The schedule will be four days a week, 7.5 hours each day.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, able to resolve issues independently, and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, often under strict deadlines and with frequent interruptions. This individual thrives in an often unpredictable, fast paced, customer service-oriented environment. The ability to maintain confidential information is crucial. Effective written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills, a professional and courteous manner, an acute attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor are essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Associate's degree and/or high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three years of office experience in a fast-paced office is required. Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Competence in email and calendar applications is essential. Must have working knowledge of or the ability to learn and use the Arcadia student system or other applications that may be used within the University or the department. Must know how to operate and troubleshoot electronic office equipment (copiers, printers or computers). Must be able to train, assign work and review the work of student employees.

- Serves as the first point of contact for the Student Affairs suite, provides general information and referrals to office visitors and directs telephone calls to appropriate Student Affairs staff or other University offices.
- Provides administrative support for the Student Affairs suite by scheduling appointments, maintaining staff calendars, overseeing conference room calendar, and preparing correspondence and other documents as requested.
- Supports departmental operations by preparing weekly email to students, creating bi-annual department newsletter, and coordinating student panels for University Open Houses, maintaining display of public transportation schedules and managing postings from Arcadia University and off-campus sources.
- Assists in oversight of student employees and processes student employee time records.
- Provides support for departmental events by coordinating room reservations, work orders, catering requests and audio/visual equipment requests, and assisting with the event as it occurs.
- Provides administrative support to Residence and Commuter Life by entering confidential student conduct data into departmental database.
- Serves as a liaison with other key offices (One-Stop Shop; Registrar's Office; Dining Services, etc.) and shares appropriate information with students and staff.
- Supports the Administrative Assistant and manages office functions and general duties in his/her absence. Provides supplemental support to the Administrative Assistant with major University and departmental events such as Undergraduate Commencement and New Student Orientation.
