Call for Applications: WHRD IC: Writer for "Global Report on the State of Affairs of Women Human Rights Defenders" 

The Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition (WHRD IC) is looking for an experienced writer to produce a 'Global Report on the State of Affairs of Women Human Rights Defenders'. This report will draw on the analyses of member organisations of the WHRD IC over the last 5 years, as well as case studies of individual and groups of WHRDs. Call for Submissions: Essay Competition: "Looking at ICTs and Agriculture in Africa through the Eyes of Women and the Youth" 

The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Agency and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) have joined forces in celebrating NEPAD's 10th Anniversary. It is within this context of reflecting over the advancement of  the African development agenda, that the two institutions are jointly organising an essay competition under the theme; "Looking at ICTs and entrepreneurship in agriculture and rural development through the eyes of women and the youth". Deadline for submissions extended to 25, 2011 for North Africa.

Call for Papers: "Women and Gender in the Middle East:  Recognition, Reflection, and Realignment" 

The status of women in the Middle East remains a subject that engages scholars and activists across academic disciplines.  Understanding the female experience requires an ongoing investigation that highlights past and present events and conditions in this region.  This multidisciplinary conference addresses the issue of gender equity in the Middle East through a number of exploratory themes. Call for Applications: PWESCR: Leadership Institute in Women's Economic Social and Cultural Rights

PWESCR's annual leadership development programme is uniquely designed for women's rights leaders (men and women) working in organisations from the economic South in key leadership positions. Using a human rights framework and the ICESCR to address structural causes of poverty and inequality, the Institute will particularly focus on the social construct of gender and women's poverty.
